In the morning she cleaned rooms in a hotel. During the day she helped in the kitchen of a small restaurant. In the evening she worked as a waitress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And all that time her little boy sat in the park\u2026 waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know it sounds terrible,\u201d she said, covering her face with her hands. \u201cBut I thought it would only be temporary. I believed I could fix everything soon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sat across from her, feeling a strange mix of anger and sadness growing inside me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
